To Kats N' Stuff

Being a cat lover and having six of my own, I am always looking for things that pertain to cats. When I saw my first "Cat Condo" I thought it was a great idea and would be good for my kitties. After investigating how they were made and making sure they were truly safe for my crew I decided to market them along with the other fun things I had come to sell at a local "flea market". I attend many cat shows and these were a natural addition to my product line. I am sure you and your kitty will find them as much fun as I have. I am very proud of the product that I sell. I have received many "thanks" from customers and many have sent me pictures, both of which have thrilled me. Some of the pictures I have included in my site. I will change them periodically because I love them all and want to share the happiness I have received from them with others. I have traveled around doing cat shows and loved every minute of it. I have sold them at flea markets and now I am on the "web". I am quite excited over this new venture which gives me another avenue through which I can sell more "cat safe" furniture. Now let me go on to tell you why I started calling this furniture 'cat safe". We use untreated lumber since treated lumber has formaldehyde and arsenic in it. These chemicals are harmful to our pets. The pine posts used are hand milled. The poles are set at positions to give the best triangulation for sturdiness while still maintaining the maximum height for maneuverability. We use a 24" x 24" wooded base which also helps with the balance. I saw someone pour contact cement on a component and press the carpet down on it. Contact cement contains several different chemicals and solvents that can be harmful to your cat. Cats can, and most of them do, chew on things so there is no reason to think they won't chew on their condo. I spoke with a woman about a year ago whose cat had been poisoned and they traced it to the condo that she had purchased from another company a few years previous. We use NO contact cement. We do not want that to happen to any of our pets. We teach our employees to pull the carpet as tightly as possible and staple it down. It is more time consuming, but assures us that the cat using the condo will be safe and not become ill because we had used the wrong products. Also, to help stabilize the condos, we put 6 six-inch zinc or galvanized 5/16" lag pins into each pole, even the little 6 inch poles. Plus, at least 6 three inch screws are put into every carpeted piece. Our kitty condos can hold up to 250 pounds at every center pole. We use non-pointed (or round tipped) galvanized staples. We do not use the cabinet, box or carpet staples. Everyone that has owned a cat (or do they own us?) knows that they have the patience of Job. If they want to work out a screw or a nail or a staple, they will work and work at it until they obtain their objective. Therefore, we do not use anything that can be pulled out and therefore, cause harm. All of our carpets are straight from the mill and are stain resistant. When one of my cats have an accident on one of their condos, and most cats have fur balls or worse once in a while, all I do is mop it up, take a little soap and water to it, and then give it a quick spray with disinfectant for bacterial purposes. All of the carpets used are "cat safe". The strands are not longer than 6 inches which means that your kitty should have no problems if they swallow one. Cats do not have a gag reflex like we do so if they start swallowing a strand, they can't stop until it is all gone. If the strand happens to be long enough, it can get wound up in their intestines and require surgery to remove it. Painful for them and expensive for you. The condos are very easily maintained by simply using a vacuum once in a while. This will keep the carpeted condo looking like new. All of our tunnels are completely lined. We do not stop an inch or two inside and leave the rest of the form bare. Also, all the components are completely covered. There again we do not stop an inch or two from the end. We have something for everyone from our economical 2 tier unit to our large and fancy Tree House. Take a look for yourself. All of our furniture comes with an optional 24" sisal rope at no extra charge. I recommend it if your cat has it's front claws. My cats use it all of the time and they leave the furniture alone. Or, if you wish, you can leave one or all of the poles bare. They are a beautiful color and make a beautiful unit. I have had several people order the bare poles. A couple have ordered all three ways--bare, carpeted, and sisal. It is your choice. You can pick your own unit and color (or colors) and we will custom build your unit when it is ordered. Speaking for myself and my six cats, they love their condos and they amuse me constantly. All they want in return is good food, clean bathroom, a bed of their choice, and their condos to climb and jump on. The love is reciprocal. I have found that if you place your unit in front of a window, your cats will pass the hours away watching nature in full action. There is always something going on outside that will attract and keep their attention, whether it is another animal, traffic, someone mowing the lawn, puffy clouds moving along, or simply a fly on the screen. The excitement that enters their lives through the use of their condo will also bring pleasure into your life as you watch their antics and expressions.
